The Significance of Juneteenth

In light of the recent events taking place across our country, the Erika Record team has become inspired to start the conversation. On June 19, 1865, the last of the slaves held in the Confederacy were emancipated. This day is celebrated as the formal end of slavery in the United States and serves as a moment of reflection and discussion for both our team and our country. We stand in solidarity with those fighting for equality, justice, and aim to give a voice to those who remain unheard. We encourage those around us to learn, listen, and understand from the pain and experiences shared by others. Below is a statement from our President, Daniel DaRocha.

“To ‘be the change I want to see in the world,’ I’ve decided to empower each of you to have this day away from the responsibilities of our daily work as a paid holiday. I hope you can honor the day and take the time to learn about our country’s past. Engage in positive dialogue, ask questions of yourself and our society, listen to the plight of our fellow Americans, reflect on their current and historical suffering, implement change in your life that is fitting – so you can be the change you want to see and share what you have learned with others,” said DaRocha.
